Fall Farm Tour

Spanglers Fall 2013

Pictured above is John and Holly Spangler of Marietta and the SRC students. John and Holly explained the different grades of beef to the students.

The McDonough County Farm Bureau recently organized
a tour of local farms for a Spoon River College science class. Students had the
opportunity to visit a hog barn and hear from Nick Biggs of TriOak Foods and
local farmer Kurt Kelso. John and Holly Spangler of rural Marietta hosted the
group on their farm where the students learned about their family farm and
their cattle operation. The tour ended with lunch at the Hunt Farms shop in
Blandinsville where the students were able to talk with members of the Hunt
Farms family and see how they store and dry their grain after harvest.
