Friend of Agriculture Awards Announced

Illinois Farm Bureau ACTIVATOR is proud and excited to announce that State Senator John Sullivan of the 47th Senate District, and Representative Norine Hammond of the 93rd House District have been awarded the organization’s Friend of Agriculture Award for their continued support of the agricultural community.

Local ACTIVATOR Trustees have designated both legislators a “Friend of Agriculture” based on their strong voting records during the 98th Illinois General Assembly, which are based on legislation that would have a significant impact on Illinois agriculture.

“As a farmer himself, Senator Sullivan has been a tremendous voice, leader, and advocate for agriculture in the State of Illinois. His work ethic in Springfield is a true reflection of the hard working men and women of his rural district,” said Kevin Semlow, Director of State Legislation for the Illinois Farm Bureau. “Representative Hammond has also worked diligently on many important issues to the farming community, and she has proven herself very valuable to the agriculture industry.”

The endorsement by IFB ACTIVATOR places all three members in a group of select individuals in the state who understand the leading role Illinois agriculture plays in the global marketplace, and the far-reaching impact of its products. It proves they comprehend the benefits of agriculture, and that those benefits extend far beyond the vital function of feeding Illinois, the nation, and the world.

“-We sincerely want to thank both members for their continued hard work, and make sure our gratitude is felt by endorsing them both a Friend of Agriculture”, added Semlow.

ACTIVATOR, Illinois Farm Bureau’s Political Involvement Fund, is a voluntary, non-profit, segregated fund promoting the economic and social well being of farmers.  ACTIVATOR trustees are local Farm Bureau leaders representing each county in the Illinois General Assembly Legislative District.
